ADMINISTRATION RELEASES NEW RULES ON CONTRACEPTION COVERAGE

The Internal Revenue Service, the Employee Benefits Security Administration and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services have released a set of interim final regulations and a set of proposed regulations related to coverage for recommended contraceptive services.  Under the Affordable Care Act, these services should be provided at no cost, with certain exceptions related to religious organizations. HHS RELEASES FINAL RULE WITH STANDARDS ON THREE SUBJECTS

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has released a final rule on the standards related to reinsurance, risk corridors and risk adjustment.  The Affordable Care Act created these programs to eliminate incentives for health insurance plans to avoid insuring people with pre-existing conditions or those who are in poor health and to reduce uncertainty that could increase premiums when Affordable Insurance Exchanges begin.
