NEW LEAVE LAWS IN NEW JERSEY, OREGON AND RHODE ISLAND

Human Resources professionals need to be aware of three new leave laws:  New Jersey has a domestic violence leave law that will be effective October 1, 2013, Oregon has a bereavement leave law that will be effective January 1, 2014 and Rhode Island has a paid family leave law, effective January 1, 2014.  Oregon is the first state in the nation to require bereavement leave and Rhode Island joins California and New Jersey in having state-run paid family leave.
