DETAILS ABOUT THE US SUPREME COURT RULING

The first issue the Supreme Court had to address regarding the Affordable Care Act (ACA) was that of the Anti-Injunction Act (AIA), a federal law which prohibits legal action against a tax until it is actually levied. Both the Obama Administration and the plaintiffs argued that the penalty is not a tax, and, accordingly, the AIA does not apply.
